Knitting the Heart

Knitting the Heart is a unique interactive art installation situated in New York City, specifically designed to foster spontaneous human connection between strangers without the need for spoken or written language. Located at the bustling Roosevelt Island Tramway, the installation leverages its public setting to transform transient moments into shared experiences.

Objectives: My primary objectives for "Knitting the Heart" were to:

  • Facilitate meaningful, non-verbal interaction between individuals who might otherwise never connect.

  • Overcome language and cultural barriers by relying solely on intuitive, universally understood iconographs with emojis.

  • Create a memorable and communal public art experience that encourages empathy and shared presence in an urban environment.
